“We don't want to make cheap-shit predictable music. we want to move people, make them dance or shout or get excited” – Blood Red Shoes
Blood Red Shoes, a Brighton based band, is steadily on the rise here in the UK.
The duo, made up of Laura-Mary Carter on guitar and Steven Ansell on drums, has seen their fan base grow steadily over the past three years with their debut album ‘Box of Secrets’ due out in April.
The band, known for their dynamic live-sound, had no problem filling the stage with their hard edged rock style. Ansell proved more than capable of drumming at a frenetic pace without losing breath to accompany Laura-Mary's vocals.
Fittingly, they opened the show with their single ‘Getting Boring by the Sea’ which set tone for the catchy rock that the duo is known for.
In my eyes, Laura-Mary joins the elite class of hip female guitar goddesses with her heavily distorted grunge riffs. She's a girl who doesn't need dodgy head banging or jumping around to grab your attention.
Their blistering single ‘You Bring Me Down’, establishes them as a band to keep an eye on for 2008.
