Video: Dum Dum Girls - Bhang Bhang, I'm a Burnout

One of the best - or at least one of my favorite - newer bands to emerge, Dum Dum Girls, released a clip for the second track off their 2010 debut album. The video for Bhang Bhang, I'm a Burnout was (unsurprisingly) directed by Christin Turner, the same director who helmed the video for their first single Jail La La. This time, the muted, mostly black and white colors are traded in for vibrant contrasts as the girls twirl and dance around on the beach, though the close-ups of Dee Dee and a lot of graininess still remain. All in all, it fits very nicely with the fun, careless attitudes that Bhang Bhang carries in both melody and lyricism.
Off topic a bit, it's nice to see frontwoman Dee Dee (AKA Kristin Gundred) to have so much success with this project after being a big fan of Grand Ole Party, in which she managed to play drums & belt at the top of her lungs simultaneously without seeming awkward. Unfortunately, the band dismembered last summer, just before they were almost ready to release their second LP, no less! I've taken an adoration to both bands, but the aesthetics of each are such polar opposites that it's hard to believe Dee Dee and Kristin are the same person.
