Sad news for Los Campesinos! fans, as Ollie Campesinos!, the band's drummer, released a statement explaining that he's parted from the group.

No one is sure why this split has occurred because Ollie himself hasn't given a reason in his post here on the Los Campesinos! official site. When Aleks parted ways with the band back in June of last year, at least there was a proper explanation. In comparison, this announcement seems so mysterious. I can only assume that perhaps he, like Aleks, wants to return to his original aspirations.

The question most prominent in my mind is: who else can play shirtless drums in such effortless style well enough for the group? Guess we'll have to stay tuned and find out.

Update: Gareth made a second post today on the topic of Ollie's departure from the band in hopes of clarifying matters in which he actually clarified... practically nothing besides the fact Ollie was asked to leave, though it has nothing to do with personal decisions or his professionalism, and that the band will continue on as normal. Alright, now I'm more confused than I was in the first place.
