It shouldn't come as a surprise that San Diego natives Crocodiles was among those supporting Dum Dum Girls during their Thursday night show at the Echo. Frontwoman Dee Dee (AKA Kristin Gundred) is married to Brandon Welchez of Crocodiles, after all. They even dueted together on "Blank Girl", a track that eventually wound up on Dum Dum Girls debut, though sadly that song was not on the set list (how cool would it have been to see that live?).

Crocodiles didn't disappoint with their performance, as fans happily danced and jumped about, but they emerged on stage in complete darkness - barring red lights strategically placed around their feet - and continued to play that way the entire set. It must be a lighting set-up they enjoy, since it seems to be a staple in their shows. It's interesting at first and fits with the tone of their music, but they have such intensity live that after a while you're stuck there wishing you could not only enjoy the sounds but also be able to see more of their power-packed movement.

I managed to get some shots of the band despite the lighting troubles. Click here to check them out!
