New Music: Jenny & Johnny - Big Wave

When I initially heard about Jenny Lewis's new project with her boyfriend, Johnathan Rice, I have to admit I was reluctant to embrace the idea. Because c'mon, wouldn't we all rather have Jenny hog the spotlight than share it? Or at least most of us Lewis fans, right?

That said, after the first song from their upcoming album "Scissor Runner" was released, and now after the release of their second free mp3 "Big Wave" (a song that Jenny has played in past live sets), my reluctancy has been shattered. I'm now officially embracing Jenny & Johnny as tightly as I can, anxiously anticipating the release of I'm Having Fun Now on August 31st.

That also said, this second song released which features Jenny on lead vox, unlike "Scissor Runner" is the more captivating of the two. I promise it's not just my bias talking! The harmonies are more complementary, and it's more intricate overall while still maintaining the melodic, driving music vibe, with easy singalong-ability (yep, made that word up).
