Video: The Drums - Down By the Water

To explain the style of The Drums' black & white clip above for "Down By the Water" - the most down-tempo song to appear on their self-titled, first full-length release - the band says:
"Both the video and song are a tribute to the girl groups of the 50's and 60's, a great inspiration to the band and one of the reasons we started it."
Makes me wonder, did girl groups of the 50's and 60's stoically stand around while giving somewhat spooky gazes to the camera? Or is it just the cylindrical blocks the boys are standing on that's making the video seem spookier than it was surely meant to be? Regardless, I'm really liking both this song and the accompanying video. One of the best homages I've heard to girl groups of the past, and the fact that it's a group of guys makes it all the more unique.
The Drums is out now digitally, and a physical copy will be released September 14th on Downtown Records.
