Cults @ FYF Fest 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - September 4, 2010

The seventh annual FYF Fest - an event that ultimately looked a whole lot better on paper - went down Saturday at Los Angeles State Historic Park. The festival kicked off to an extremely rocky start as guests and photographers alike waited in line for hours at the box office, first waiting for the guest list to arrive. Then secondly, since the press wristbands had conveniently been forgotten, waiting for those to show up.

At 1 PM - two hours after the box office "opened" - some after waiting since 10:30 in the morning in the sweltering, oppressive heat, the wristbands finally arrived and us extremely disgruntled photographers and others waiting in the press line were let in. I dragged my sweaty body into the park at last, having already missed the entire first slot of bands, including rockscope favorites Magic Kids. How incredibly disappointing.

Nonetheless, part one of our FYF Fest coverage is kicked off with performances by Growlers, The Blow, Cults, Warpaint, Best Coast and AA Bondy.

Favorite set of part one goes to Cults - a band that has very recently emerged despite having just a mere bandcamp page and only four digitally released tunes. Love them; believe me, this band has so much potential, and you will be seeing more of them in the future! Proof? They're already playing new songs that will appear on their forthcoming debut LP - hurrah!
