FYF Fest 2010 Part Two: Soft Pack, Wavves, Local Natives, Ariel Pink, Dead Man's Bones
September 7, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA
By Darren Kim and Liz Caruso
Festival goers waited in a line that spanned 1-2 hours long for the only water fountain made available in the park @ FYF Fest
As the sun got lower in the sky, and the festival became more crowded with hordes of people, more complications arose - most notably the ridiculously long lines for the water fountains after vendors ran out of $4 water bottles before the sun went down and the equally long lines for every food vendor.
Despite these conditions, there were bands who made up for it. Part two of our coverage includes Soft Pack, Wavves, Local Natives, Ariel Pink, and Dead Man's Bones.

Soft Pack:
Soft Pack gave a great, energetic set to a very receptive crowd. They even had some photographers in the photo pit dancing along.
Wavves:
Local Natives:
Local Natives has been making endless festival appearances and tour dates this year in support of their acclaimed LP Gorilla Manor, but you definitely won't hear anyone complaining about that. These local guys from LA have summoned up an ardent fan base with their fun live shows and superbly crafted songs.
Ariel Pink:
Dead Man's Bones:
One could easily say Dead Man's Bones brought out the most predominantly female crowd of the day, but what else is to be expected when one of its members is actor/heartthrob Ryan Gosling? Famous names aside, this band is great on its own merit. Gosling and Zach Shields, the group's co-founders, played a delightful set with a children's choir ghoulishly dressed as famous dead people. I even spotted a couple new songs in the set, so perhaps this means a follow-up to last year's self-titled debut will soon be coming. If this is indeed in the cards might I suggest a Halloween release date?
