Chaos
"If you want to see Crystal Castles, you must stand back!", the show promoter pleaded with the audience. An almost futile and desperate plea to control the drunken fans that had gathered nearly 2am in the morning to witness Crystal Castles' siezure inducing electronic thrash in a warehouse in the heart of LA's industrial district. Giving away cans of free Colt 45 malt liquor until 11pm didn't help and only added fuel to the fire.
After a near hour delay and one song into their set, the music was temporarily stopped as fire marshals threatened to shut down the party. Inadequate barriers and over crowdedness caused a mass of people to collapse into the front row causing a aggressive shoving match between fans and security.
During the break, Alice Glass frustratingly distanced herself by rolling around on the stage waiting for the situation to clear.
Eventually the show did go on, and I did manage to capture a couple decent photos. If anything, going to a Crystal Castles gig will definitely be a memorable experience. Perhaps next time, I'll be better prepared to handle such chaos!
