Ever since witnessing Blonde Redhead's live performance a couple weeks ago in LA, they've been striking a deep chord with me, one that hadn't quite "clicked" before this, which happened to be my first live experience of theirs. There is something quite magical about the way lead singer Kazu Makino carries herself on stage - crossing from one side to the other as if she is floating, crooning in a girlish, hazy voice while she slowly gestures and dances to the music, all as while large bursts of light and smoke envelope her. There's a lot to be said about twin brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace, too, as they coolly, stoically contribute guitar and drums. Both live and on their albums, their music and demeanor perfectly straddles the line between beautiful and creepy, and it has officially gotten me hooked.
