Los Angeles natives Moving Units have been hitting up the local venues lately, first with a show in LA county proper at the Troubadour in October, and just a couple weeks ago, a gig in Pomona. I was lucky enough to attend the second of the two aforementioned shows, which was on a Saturday night and naturally brought out all the cool college kids seeking something they could dance their asses off to.

With their performance, the three-piece group delivered something that was infinitely worthy of dance, sweat and cheers from the audience in bucketloads. Their lead singer Blake Miller spends half his time gripping onto his microphone, writhing and twisting his body as he plays guitar and half his time getting in the audience's face - playing right against the barrier, gripping hands with fans. And unlike some bands, the other members don't sit silently and watch as Blake has his fun; at one point, the drummer stepped out from his set and danced up against the barricade with reckless abandon as Blake smiled on.

It's this energy and connection with the fans that sets apart Moving Units from the rest of their dance-punk contemporaries. Consider me convinced now that I've seen them live!
